Edible Oils & Fats
Refined edible oils are an important part of everybody’s diet. activated clays are utilized to absorb various impurities from oils. This imparts stability to the oil, which means that the oil has a longer shelf-life.

Soaps
Apart from edible uses, oils and fats are employed in a multitude of other non-edible applications. Soaps are probably the most important of these non-edible applications and activated clays of the highest standard are necessary to ensure that the oil base meets the stringent requirements in the production of cosmetic and toilet soaps.

Re-refining of mineral oils
Increasing environmental awareness has been one of the driving forces towards the re-refining of mineral oils. Similarly, in countries where the economic cost of imported lubricants are high, re-refining of lubricant oils is widely practiced.

Both of these needs are satisfied by the availability of high-performing activated clays, which enable recycled oil to be economically converted into re-refined oil of a quality equivalent to that of base oil.

Technical oils, fats & waxes
There are many applications where activated clays are utilised to refine oils, fats and waxes for non-edible purposes. Among them are the utilization of highly refined linseed and soyabean oils in the formulation of high-quality surface coatings.

Refined waxes such as beeswax and carnuba are ingredients in some of the best-known and durable car polishes. Refined white petroleum jelly (Vaseline) and white oil (liquid paraffin) are used in the manufacture of cosmetics, personal care products and pharmaceuticals. activated clays are also utilised in the refining of castor oil.
